ABOUT NEWTOWNARDS

Lying on the tip of the famous Strangford Lough, Newtownards can be traced back to the 4th century, to a monastry at Movilla. The town itself was established in 1606, during the settlements under Hugh Mongtomery. Today it is a lively shopping town with a wide diversity of fashion shops, gift shops, restuarants and cafes, oh, and the odd bookshop. It is the gateway to the beautiful Ards Peninsula.
Why not spend the morning in Ards, get some coffee, do some shopping in the bookshop and other shops, the take a tour of the peninsula. There's lots to see and do for everyone. A perfect day to visit would be a Saturday, when the market is on.
