Annie Spencer was born in Cardiff, S. Wales, UK. When she was 2 years of age, the family moved to Birmingham where they lived for 7 years, leaving in August 1922 for Trinidad (the most southerly of the British West Indian islands, just 7 miles from the coast of Venezuela) where her parents went as missionaries, commended by the assemblies of Christian brethren, and where they died and are buried.
Annie received her education there and lived to see the islands of Trinidad and Tobago become an independent twin island state and later gain the status of a republic.
Her varied career saw her a librarian at the Trinidad Public Library for 13 years, after which she managed a bookshop for 10 years, finally resigning to devote the remaining 23 years of her working life to the establishing of a Christian Day School, commended to this work as a missionary by the Ebenezer Assembly in Woodbrook, Port of Spain, which was established through the work of her parents. She has written a book for children on the Ten Commandments and numerous articles for women in The Caribbean Courier, The Testimony (New York, USA) and the Family (UK) magazines. In 1997 she and her sister Eileen returned to Cardiff (due to Eileen's ill health) where Annie now resides.
