The central theological distinctive of Christianity-that Jesus is God incarnate-has repeatedly come under fire from adherents to other religions and scholars who interpret Jesus as a prophet, angel, or guru. Putting Jesus in His Place is designed to introduce Christians to the wealth of biblical teaching on the deity of Christ. Using evidence from the New Testament, this book helps readers appreciate the significance of Christ's deity in a personal relationship with Him, and gives them the confidence to share the truth about Jesus with others.

    1. Excellent resource 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Oct 2016

Putting Jesus in His Place is a well-argued, thorough, yet very readable presentation of the overwhelming Scriptural proof that Jesus Christ is God.

The authors use the acronym HANDS to hang their headings on, showing that Christ shares the honours of God, the attributes of God, the names of God, the deeds of God and the seat of God. Each heading opens up into a few chapters, for example, under the heading of the honours of God, the authors show that Christ was praised (chapter 1), worshipped (chapter 2), prayed to (chapter 3), sung to / about (chapter 4), feared, loved, trusted, served and obeyed (chapter 5) in ways that the Bible states are exclusively for God.

There were a (very) few disappointing features in the book, e.g. a couple of verses that I thought deserved to be included as proofs of Christ's deity got very scant treatment (Rev. 22:3-4 and 1 John 5:20); I thought 1 Cor. 15:28 and Rev. 3:21 were dealt with in a not very convincing way; John 14:28, which deniers of the deity of Christ cite, was never addressed.

Nevertheless, it is an excellent book and a thrilling study. They love the Lord and write with obvious conviction. They give fascinating insights, deal thoroughly with objections, provide Scriptural context and exegesis to support their points and leave the reader in no doubt that Thomas got it right when he called the risen Christ, "My Lord and my God!" (John 20:28).
