The Success of the Servant is a study of the Servant Songs of Isaiah. These poetic oracles of the evangelical prophet provide a bountiful field in which to glean - there are handfuls of purpose in every line. Isaiah himself is singing in chapter 5 verse 1: “Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved”. His beloved is both the subject and the object of his song. There could be no greater theme of which to sing than the Person presented by the prophet as the Perfect Servant of Jehovah. His excellences could never be exaggerated. His praises will never end (Ps 145.2). By the completion of His work, He brings delight to Jehovah and untold blessing within the reach of both Jew and Gentile. Sir Edmund Hillary conquered Mount Everest on 29th May 1953, but there are mountain peaks here that will never be scaled.
