It was my God-given privilege to have been reared in a home where my parents were saved, and the Word of God was given its proper place. I was thus privileged to have heard the Glorious Gospel of Christ from infancy. At the age of sixteen, I was saved by the Grace of God while sitting in a little portable hall in which the gospel was being preached. My mind became occupied with the Death, Burial and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. It was especially the truth of His resurrection which convinced me that God was completely satisfied with the sacrifice and death of His Son. I realized that all that God asked of me was to be satisfied with it too. At that moment, around 9.04pm, Thursday 4th October 1962, I passed from death unto life, saved for eternity. I was soon baptized and received into assembly fellowship in my home village of Sion Mills, County Tyrone on 21st April 1963. Six months later I was given a Sunday School class and shared in a Gospel Meeting on a Sunday night, relating my story of salvation. I continued to preach the gospel in many locations and God graciously blessed in the salvation of souls. I also became involved in Open-air gospel preaching around the towns and villages of North Tyrone for many years with those of like mind. I became exercised in more recent years to compose some Gospel Poems which could be printed as Gospel Tracts. The number composed increased greatly during the years of the Covid-19 pandemic together with an exercise for some poems of a devotional nature for believers. A number of Christian friends encouraged me to send these forth in booklet form and this publication is the result. It is published primarily as a help in the furtherance of the gospel but also to many believers who are “passing through deep waters.” I do trust that in all things, God will be glorified in the salvation of precious souls and the encouragement of believers in Christ in these dark closing days before the Lord comes. “The coming of the Lord draweth nigh” James 5v8 J R McCallan
