Harold Spurgeon Paisley was born in Lurgan, Northern Ireland, in 1924. He was the eldest of the three children of James and Isabella Paisley. Harold was saved after witnessing a road accident in which a man standing next to him was killed. He had a love for souls and became a fervent evangelist and respected Bible teacher. He led gospel campaigns in various parts of the UK, including one in Bristol and on two notable occasions in canvas marquees in Glasgow. One series of gospel meetings in Peterhead in 1963 had an echo of the revivals of a previous era in the fishing communities of the north east of Scotland. The family moved to Canada in 1966 where many souls were saved through his earnest and compelling preaching. He also wrote several helpful books. The intensity of his travels and ministry began to diminish in the early 21st century and his latter years were spent with his wife Rosetta and members of his family in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Harold passed away peacefully on December 4th, 2015, ‘at home with the Lord’.
