From the studio that brought you Risen and War Room comes a film of two menâs faith that defied an empire.
Held against his will in a dismal prison cell at the whim of Emperor Nero, the apostle Paul (James Faulkner) finds his days are numbered. Awaiting his execution before the citizens of Rome, Paul receives a visitor who brings an idea that changed the world. To write down Paulâs story for Christians of the time.
That man is Luke (Jim Caviezel). Both friend and physician, Luke is determined to write Paulâs story as he did Jesusâ. But in doing so, he needs to risk everything by remaining in the heart of the Roman empire, a vipers-nest of watchful eyes lead by a desperate Nero. Not only does Lukeâs very presence in Rome endanger his own freedom, but the sharp eye of prison prefect Mauritius (Olivier Martinez) threatens to tear the whole plan apart. In writing this book, Luke must be willing to risk everything. Paulâs story will challenge an empire, and needs telling before itâs too late.
Chained and left in a dark cell, Paul relives the events to led him to capture. From the persecution he led, to the persecution he would receive after meeting Christ, Paulâs life became one of struggle and survival. From stonings to starvation to shipwrecks, Paulâs faith defied a world seeking to bury Christianity by any means possible. And before Luke came, Paul feared he too would be buried before his message could change a single life.
But now there is hope; a chance to share the Gospel with a world beyond the prisonâs bars.
A story of courage and faith that defied an empire, Paul Apostle of Christ is a dramatic account of the life of Paul and the early church. It brings to life the dangers early Christians faced, and the effect of their courage that can be felt to this day.
