SUbstance volume 7 is the next in the successful and well-received SUbstance programme of discipleship resources for 14 to 18s. Carrying on from previous volumes, this resource will help the young people grow their faith and get to know God better through group Bible study and praying together.

It contains ten Bible based resources, grouped into two modules. The first module (of four sessions) looks at the significance of the cross and explores the narrative surrounding the death and resurrection of Jesus, together with Old and New Testament readings. This module will challenge young people to examine and develop their own concept of the cross and resurrection and gain a better understanding of Jesus' action.

The second module, made up of six parts, takes young people on the rollercoaster ride of the growth of the early church. The sessions explore the mission and the message of the early church, the setbacks and the triumphs as God's message spreads throughout the known world. Young people will also be challenged to see what impact this has on their own life and faith - how do they take the message out to their known world?

Each session is made up of a leaders' introduction, introductory activities, Bible exploration and response opportunities. There are photocopiable pages available in the book, together with multimedia resources online.
