They recently won a nationwide X-Factor style search to find Britain’s favourite parish choir. Judges waded through hundreds of entries from all corners of the British Isles after placing ads in religious and national press. In a further twist, worthy of a TV drama, Wallingford Choir would never have entered the competition were it not for local resident and the man behind the Spice Girls, ex Managing Director of Virgin Records Paul Conroy, who spotted the ad in a newspaper and urged the choir to ‘go for it’.
