On-and-off lockdowns over the past months have meant that Christian people alternated in their worship patterns between in church and online. These situations have proved frustrating for some and provided opportunities for evangelism for others. One thing a Covid 19 epidemic could not do, though, was lessen the love of our God to us, or minimise the truth of His Word on our lives. The Bible is a treasure trove of information on every human emotion and situation, portrayed in such a diverse cast of men and women as to be immensely relevant. Its main character, Jesus, is predicted in the first half of the book and presented as Saviour of the world, Lamb of God, and Head of the church in the second. The underlying message of the Scriptures is highlighted in a number of practical, and spiritual, believable personal stories. In this latest set of meditations, God guides Eliezer to find a bride for Isaac, Nehemiah to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, wise men to make a demanding journey to worship a Baby, Peter to preach to a Jewish audience in Jerusalem, supported by the other disciples at Pentecost and Paul to preach, alone, to a bunch of Greek philosophers in Athens.
